OUR STORY

WE STARTED THIS FOR MARLEY.

Santa Barbara Dog Jog started the way most good ideas do — over a couple of beers.

It was the Fourth of July in 2014, and Katy and her friend Laina were talking about her dog Marley. Marley needed more than a walk around the block. More movement, more challenge, more time doing what dogs were actually built to do. What Marley needed, they joked, was a jogger. Turns out, many dogs in Santa Barbara do.

Laina launched SB Dog Jog that year and built it into something real. When she moved on in 2022, Katy took over — and brought Greg on board. Same conviction, same trails, different hands.

A decade in, the core idea hasn't changed. Get dogs outside. Make it real. Send them home tired.

OUR TEAM

KATY CHAMOUN - Owner & Trainer

Katy has been working with dogs professionally since 2017 and joined SBDJ in 2021. She apprenticed under two respected Santa Barbara trainers and has spent the last five years developing her own approach — balanced, relationship-first, and grounded in how dogs actually think and learn.

Her take: every dog is different, but they all want the same thing — to feel understood and fulfilled. Katy's approach is balanced and relationship-first. She takes time to bond with each dog before anything else, because once she understands how a dog thinks and what makes them tick, the training follows naturally. She uses a mix of positive reinforcement and correction when needed, always meeting the dog where they are.

Most days you'll find Katy leading pack adventures and private training sessions, clocking well over ten miles with dogs by her side. She's in her element out there — and so are the dogs.

Greg Golf - Owner & HIKER

Greg grew up in Austin with three dogs and never really stopped thinking about them. He found Santa Barbara while at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and decided, reasonably, that this was the place to be. He's been here ever since.

Before SB Dog Jog, Greg organized summer camps, schools, and music festivals — which turns out to be decent preparation for wrangling a pack of dogs on a trail. He brings that same energy to every outing: structured, fun, and focused on making sure every dog goes home better than they arrived.

Greg works one-on-one with dogs and keeps the operation running so Katy can do what she does best. Behind every great pack adventure, there's someone making sure the logistics don't fall apart.

TRINITI ROWE - WALKER & JOGGER

Triniti is a Southern California native who found her way to Santa Barbara and never looked back. She's happiest outside — hiking, exploring, and spending time with animals of all kinds. Dogs pick up on that energy immediately, which makes her a natural on the trail.

When she's not out with the pack, you'll find her at a concert or somewhere in the hills.
